Meeting with Uri Kolodny , co-founder and CEO of StarkWare
Uri Kolodny is co-founder and CEO of StarkWare, which develops zero-knowledge proof technology for permissionless blockchains, based on technology developed by Prof. Eli Ben-Sasson and Michael Riabzev at Technion.
He’s been an entrepreneur for the past 18 years, in optical communications, medical devices, cleantech, and software. Uri has a BSc in CS (Magna cum Laude) from the Hebrew Univ., and an MBA from MIT Sloan. He is also an alum of 8200’s Haman Talpiot program.

Meeting with Eran Shir - CEO of Nexar
The students met with Eran Shir, CEO of start-up Nexar, for a meeting on entrepreneurship, autonomous vehicles and futuristic roads
Eran Shir, who holds a master's degree in physics from the Technion. He founded Dapper, which provided advertising services based on the user's surfing history. In 2010 he sold it to Yahoo. For the next three years he served as director of its development center.
In 2015, he founded Nexar. Prior to that, he served as the "home entrepreneur" of the Alef venture capital fund and assisted the fund's portfolio companies in establishing them

The students were hosted at Intel's production plant in Kiryat Gat,
During the tour, they visited the Intel Visitor Center, heard a general lecture about Intel and the manufacturing plant and took a look at the clean room at Intel

Meeting with Yoel Mark - International Vice President of Research at Amazon
The students met with Joel Mark, international vice president of research at Amazon. Yoel is a graduate of the Faculty of Computer Science (PhD). She is a researcher in the fields of search engine optimization and data mining. She served until recently as vice president of Yahoo! (Yahoo! Labs) and managed Yahoo's research labs! Israel and India. Was the first engineer of Google Israel and established the first development center in Haifa in 2006. In 2013, she was elected to ACM. In 2009 and 2013, she was named one of the 50 most influential women in Israel by Globes. In 2014, Haaretz chose one of the 66 Israeli women "worth getting to know". |

Lapidim meeting with Itzik Fried from Takwin Labs
The students met with Itzik Fried, managing partner of Takwin Labs, a fund that invests in companies belonging to Arab hi-tech entrepreneurs.
The fund was founded by industrialist and entrepreneur Imad Talhami, in partnership with Hemi Peres (Pitango Fund) and Erel Margalit (JVP).
Prior to joining Takwin, Itzik was CEO of Playscape, a partner in Argoquest Holdings, VP Business Affairs of AOL, and a senior advisor to the finance minister.

A meeting with Gil Shwed at Check Point's offices in Tel Aviv
The students from the Lapidim program were hosted at Check Point's offices in Tel Aviv. The students met with Gil Shwed, an Israeli high-tech entrepreneur, founder, chairman and CEO of Check Point. The students were exposed and learned first-hand about entrepreneurship, managing a global company and the vision of Israeli high-tech. In addition, the students met with Nissan Chesler, who is responsible for technologies at Check Point.

Microsoft Breeze program
Our LAPIDIM students took first, second and third place in Microsoft’s Hawking Competition, part of the Microsoft Breeze program, a summer program run by Microsoft and open to outstanding students. This year’s program focused on the worlds of cyber and included lectures, practical workshops and a series of technological competitions and challenges.

VR event for LAPIDIM program students at Google Haifa
On September 13th, Google hosted a special VR event for the LAPIDIM program students at the Google Haifa office. During the event, students met up with a technical program manager, Adva Glasner, which explained about the work Google is doing in the VR field, including fun demos. Rom Herskovitz, LAPIDIM Alumni and a Google engineer, presented a VR project he did as part of his degree. Before having a delicious lunch and ending the day, we had a panel for the students and explained more about life at Google.

The Microsoft R&D Center hosts students from the LAPIDIM Program
The LAPIDIM students were guests of the Microsoft Research and Development Center in Herzliya. During their visit, students listened to lectures about innovation and chatbots, toured Microsoft’s accelerator, participated in a drone workshop, and explored Microsoft’s garage.
Using a special machine for cutting laser, the students tried their hands at preparing key rings with their names on them and then took them home as souvenirs.

A meeting with Erez Webman & Boaz Palgi
Meeting with Boaz Palgi and Erez Webman—serial entrepreneurs (ScalelO, Topio)—about storage and myth breaking in entrepreneurship. Boaz Palgi and Erez Webman, serial entrepreneurs (ExtremIO, ScalelO, Topio), in their most recent executive positions served as CEO and CTO, respectively of ScaleIO. The company, founded in 2011, specialized in the field of data storage. In 2013, it was acquired by EMC (the purchase price was estimated at around 200-300 million dollars).
