Meeting with Tom Even, User Experience (UX) Design Expert
Students had a virtual meeting and lecture via Zoom on the subject of Designing for Behavior Change, with Tom Even, user experience (UX) design expert. The “nudge” theory, for which its developer was awarded a Nobel Prize in Economics, deals with small actions having great impact. During the meeting, Even spoke about hidden psychological powers that change our choices and reviewed the array of tools and methods for changing behavior, while thinking about how to improve the world around us through design

A meeting with a representative of The Jacobs Technion–Cornell Institute, Fernando Gómez-Baquero, director of Runway and Spinouts. During the meeting, he told the students about his entrepreneurial path and gave them information about Cornell’s entrepreneurial projects, the Runway and Spinout programs, and the summer internship program.

Students visited the Intel facility in MATAM

Students visited the Intel facility in MATAM and met with Giora Yorav, post silicon system validation manager in the Mobileye team and heard about Intel’s strategy in the area of autonomous cars. In addition, they met with Avi Salamon, innovation manager in Intel’s Development Centers, who spoke to them about innovation in industry and how to make innovative and creative thinking a natural part of the organization.

Meeting with Prof. Esti Segal from the Technion’s Faculty of Biotechnology and Food

Students met with Prof. Esti Segal who has developed a new technology for quickly monitoring bacteria, thus enabling rapid diagnosis of infections. The technology, which uses DNA splicing technology, also allows the matching of antibiotics to patients in real time.

Students met with Ami Luttwak, R&D CTO, Microsoft Israel, and founder of the cyber company Adallom, purchased by Microsoft. During the meeting, they spoke of entrepreneurship, management of a huge company and artificial intelligence.

Meeting with Prof. Alex Bronstein
Students met with Prof. Alex Bronstein, faculty member and lecture in the Department and director of the “Center for Intelligent Systems”, an expert in machine learning, computer vision, image processing and computational imaging. During the meeting, Prof. Bronstein gave a lecture titled Learning to See: Imaging in the Data Age, and spoke about his research and entrepreneurial philosophy.

Students met with Iris Moshkovitz, an organizational consultant and trainer, who conducted an interpersonal communications seminar intended to show them how to reap practical results from networking and how to make small talk with strangers without sounding artificial.

Panel comprising Lapidim graduates
Yvgeny Dibrov and Nadir Yizrael – founders of the Armis startup, Eden Saig – a Facebook investigator, Nofar Carmeli – departmental doctoral student, and Ori Servalo – a doctoral student at Tel Aviv University – are all graduates of the Lapidim program. They came together to meet with students and speak about their experiences and life for them as students in the programs.
