Born in 1997, Shay studies computer science in the three-year track. He says he chose this field in order to learn more, and not for the grades (though this is a welcome benefit). Each course he attends makes him thrilled with his decision. He says that everything seems less threatening when you perceive learning as a means of exploring the depth and beauty of the world from the perspective of human awareness. He loves using his imagination and losing himself in his thoughts – whether in the realistic and practical context, or in the context of literature, philosophy, and internal speculation. He is hungry for knowledge and has always aspired to learn and grow. Shay has a student job as a software engineer at Intel.
" As a new student, I wasn't sure I would succeed at the Technion. But I decided I would and acted accordingly. The Lapidim program is both a means and an end. It is a difficult, intensive experience, but also one of the most satisfying, enriching, and motivating ones I have ever had "
Born in 1998, Nitai studies computer science and mathematics. He says he has always loved mathematics, and found the connection with computer science a natural one because he realized that it was a practical application of mathematics. He wants to contribute his knowledge to the hi-tech industry. Nitay is originally from Petah Tikva. He enjoys drumming and bicycle riding. He studied at the yeshiva high school in Petah Tikva, and served as a commander in the IDF Haruv special operations unit.
" A ship in port is safe, but that's not what ships are built for" (Grace Hopper) "
Born in 1999, Shani studies computer science and specializes in bioinformatics. She says that the technological developments of the past few decades have completely revolutionized our lives. She hopes to use the tools she acquires as part of her studies to solve difficult problems in the fields of bioinformatics and molecular biology that were considered unsolvable in the past. Shani grew up in Zichron Yaacov, studies in the Mofet high school program for gifted students, and majored in three scientific subjects. She served in the IDF 8200 cyber unit, and then worked in hi-tech for a year. She loves to dance, travel, and meet new people.
" Surrounding yourself with strong people in a supportive environment is an important step towards success "
Born in 1996, Lior studies computer science and specializes in bioinformatics. She says she has always enjoyed studying and enriching her knowledge by constantly learning new things. She finds her studies interesting and challenging, and the atmosphere positive and fun. She would not want to be anywhere else! Lior was born in Israel, moved to North Carolina when she was a child, and lived there for eight years. When she returned to Israel, she attended the Rothberg high school in Ramat Hasharon and majored in software engineering and physics. She served in the IDF intelligence unit for four years as a cyber network analyst and a technological research project manager. After completing her service, she volunteered for three months as part of the Jewish Agency's Project TEN, as an educator and director of a local youth center. Lior worked at CyberMDX as a network analyst, where she also managed projects and worked with customers. Lior now works as a Customer Success Manager at CyberMDX
" The program is an excellent opportunity to meet great people, learn about new, interesting topics in the field of technology and hi-tech, and acquire important leadership and management skills "
Born in 2003, Guy studies software engineering in the Psagot academic reserves program. During his studies, he will complete a BSc in software engineering and an MA without a thesis. After he graduates, he will serve in the IDF in a key, designated role. Guy says that his studies are challenging from the mental and computational perspective, but that difficulties are insignificant when you are doing what you love. Guy lives in Petah Tikva and studied software engineering in high school, which led him to the Psagot program. He was active in the Shelach (society and nature organization) leadership program as a member, instructor, and director. As part of the program, he hiked, trained, and shared his knowledge with younger members. In his free time, he enjoys playing the guitar and the piano, playing basketball, and exercising
" The program has high expectations, so I recommend it for people who believe in excellence and choose this field because they love it and want to learn more about it. For a person like that, this program is an excellent framework for achieving goals and expanding horizons in an accessible and in-depth way "
Born in 2002, Yazan studies in the general four-year track. He has been interested in computers and mathematics since high school, and chose to study computer science because he loves solving problems. He describes this field as a broad one with unlimited opportunities, especially now that computers are part of every field and every profession. Yazan lives in Nazareth and studied at his local high school in a class for gifted students. He participated in social initiatives such as PeaceCamp in Austria and MUN. He enjoys sports, playing soccer, computer games, and traveling abroad.
